Preppy Text Tutorial
-Difficulty: Medium (hard for starters)-This is my first tutorial please no hard feelings.
Step 1
open photoshop, and create a new document or if your working on adding this to a preppy sign that is fine also, and select the text tool and the font you want to use and i used black because the coloring will be the gradient overly, now to move to next step
Step 2
this may not be the best easiest way but duplicate your text 3 times you should have 4 text layers, on the top one right click and go to blending options and select gradient overly (make sure it is checked on) and select gradient and change the colors, and also the angle at 0, now i have also added a stroke of 2px (white) & also a drop shadow of a distance of 0 & spread of 0 and size 5 and also select bevel and emboss & select contour (i have some links below for you to click and make your settings like mine)

Step 3
now right click the 2nd layer and right click and blending options and add a stroke of 3px make sure it's a gradient and select the gradient we used earlier in step 1
Step 4
now we are going to select the 3rd layer and add a stroke of 4px make sure it's a pattern and select the scanline you want to use
Step 5
select the last layer - and add a gradient stroke of 5px - and then go back to the first layer and select the magic wand tool and select the gradient it will select the first part of the text, if your site name is 2 parts like mine then your going to have select the other part as in mine would be "beach" and you have to change your settings on the magic wand like (this) this lets you select multiple things! okay now we are going to go to Layer>New Fill Layer>Pattern & when the pop up appears just hit enter select a pattern you would like to use mine is a zebra scratchy pattern and hit enter - and make sure you change the normal drop down box to overly and this is the final product.
